Cauterets

Cauterets is a tourist station of charm located at the doors of the National park of the Pyrenees. Proud of its architecture and its environment, it offers a complete range of activities around the mountain of course, but also of hydrotherapy, thermal spas, activities in an unspoilt nature and, when the winter comes, ski and snowboard. Very concerned about the improvement of quality, the village has invested with the willing to progress while preserving its assets, among which an architecture beginning of century with the incomparable charm and an environment of an exceptional quality. Fresh air, beneficial water, admirably preserved nature, sports and relaxation, culture and animations... are the ingredients of this cocktail anti-stress to be tasted without moderation for a guaranteed resourcing! And if it were necessary to summarize the tourist highlights of Cauterets...
Inevitably, we would speak:
--> of the prestigious natural sites, in the heart of the National park of the Pyrenees, with one of the most beautiful lake of the Pyrenees, the legendary Lake of Gaube, overhung by quite as mythical solid mass of Vignemale which, the top of its 3 298 m, dominates all the chain of the French Pyrenees.
--> of the Thermal baths, which made the reputation of the City at the beginning of the century and it is still among the most prestigious hydropathic establishments of France. One is specialized in the rheumatisms and respiratory tracts using a water richly sulphur which spouted out in abundance of the local sources, and this after more than 5 000 years of a process of mineral enrichment in the basements of our mountains. Gradually, the use of this beneficial water widened with other fields and in particular with the thermal spas and the esthetic cares which makes it possible to quickly find health and beauty in a professional and convivial environment
--> of the sporting equipment and leisures, which supplement perfectly the tourist offer of the destination. Thus, the interior and external heated swimming pool (also including a toboggan and a basin dedicated to children) and the skating rink (natural ice) are particularly appreciated, as well for the ludic aspect than for cooling as they get. The Casino of Cauterets is a true tourist complex: the room of the plays of course propose many machines, in evening, the "Jeu de la boule" in an elegant building also includes a cinema equipped with 2 rooms, a bar and a restaurant. This complex accomodates all the year with many shows and events.
--> of animations and original events: throughout the season, the Tourist Office, the Therms, the Casino of Cauterets and local associations propose many shows and events for all the public.
--> of the large variety of accomodations: hotels, pensions, furnished flats, residences of tourism, camp-sites, gites, resorts and centers of holidays, guest houses...
--> of the winter, finally, with the skiable field the best snow-covered one of all the area with, since 2006, a great innovation: the replacement of the cable car of a very efficient gondola composed by 100 cabins of 8 seats each!
